What is Critical Care?

Critical Care Medicine is the branch of medicine that specializes in the care of patients whose condition is life-threatening and who require comprehensive care and constant monitoring, usually in a critical or intensive care unit.

In the event you or any member of your family require care in a Critical Care Unit, you would be attended to by physicians who are board certified in Critical Care Medicine and have the latest training in all aspects of Critical Care. Communication between health care providers and family members is an important part of Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care physicians work closely with your private physician, medical/surgical specialists, as well as ancillary professionals to coordinate the care provided to the critically ill patient.

Pulmonary and Critical Care

Our physicians meet regularly with the patient and family to provide information regarding the patient’s diagnosis, condition, treatment plan, and prognosis. The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is a group of physicians and scientists caring for patients who have diseases related to lungs and breathing.
